Arima Onsen (Hot Spring)
Arima Onsen is one of the oldest hot springs in Japan located 350 to 500 meters high on Mt. Rokko in Arima-cho Kita-ku, Kobe City. It takes 60 minutes from Osaka and 30 minutes from central Kobe. To go to Arima Onsen, you can either take the Kobe Electric Railway Arima Line to its last stop Arima Onsen station, or use Rokko Ropeway. Nishinomiya-Kita Interchange will be the easier way to go if going by car. There are hotels and Japanese style inns called "Ryokan" near the Onsen district or at the foot of the mountain or inside the mountain. There are public open air hot springs such as " Kin no Yu (Gold waters)" and "Gin no Yu (Silver waters)". There are villas and company recreation facilities as well. The Arima Onsen is a very old hot spring which even appears in the Nihonshoki, the first Japanese annals.
