Floating Castle/Takeda Castle Ruins

It is located on the top of a mountain which takes 40 minutes through the mountain trail from JR Takeda station. It was built by YAMANA Souzen, Shugo Daimyo (Military Governer) in 1431. its owner changed a lot during the war and it was abandoned in the Edo period. It was the location of the movie "Heaven and Earth" in 1989, and 300 million Yen was spent for building the Tenshu-kaku (castle tower) and Ote-mon gate. It was also designated as a "Lover's Sanctuary" due to many young lovers like to visit there. In the morning there are fogs and the castle is surrounded by a sea of clouds, which is the reason why it is also called " Floating Castle in the sky" or "Japanese Machu Picchu".
